Between 1892 and 1914, the Folk‐Lore Society published seven volumes in a running series entitled the County Folk-Lore Series, essentially compilations of printed material. This venture of the Society has never been looked at in depth; so this article examines the motivation behind this series, as well as the progress of the volumes that appeared in these years.
