This study aimed to estimate photosynthetic productivity of phytoplankton and water quality in two floodplain lakes of north Bihar, India. Gross phytoplankton productivity ranged from 1.849 g Cmday to 4.994 g Cmday at Tarawe chaur and 1.319 g Cmday to 3.965 g Cmday at Gamharia chaur. The net primary productivity measured as 1.037 g Cmday to 3.849 g Cmday at Tarawe chaur and 1.003 g Cmday to 2.621 g Cmday at Gamharia chaur.
