Cladophora glomera is a genus of widely distributed, global, sessile, large green algae, which is also a euryhaline alga. This study discovered that changes in salinity can induce C. glomera to produce massive amounts of extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) when controlling other environmental conditions. If culturing C. glomera with salinity greater than a 3.0‰ medium for 24 hours, large amounts of EPS will be secreted. And the level of polysaccharides, the primary component of EPS, is…
