Abstract This paper focuses on a particular Elamite lexicographical issue: the history, etymology and meaning of the etymon tep- and its derivatives teppir, puhu teppi and tupppime on the one hand, and its relation with Akkadian ṭuppu on the other hand. The study of this will be pursued through an analysis of all attestations of this etymon in combination with some historical aspects.
