Nodulation and effective nitrogen fixation of Macroptilium atropurpureum (siratro) by Burkholderia tuberum, a nodulating and plant growth promoting beta-proteobacterium, are influenced by environmental factors
- BiologyPlant and Soil
- 2013
Higher temperatures and reduced watering resulted in reliable, effective nodulation on siratro, an excellent model plant for B. tuberum STM678T and identified genes that might be involved in the ability of diazotrophic Burkholderia species to survive harsh conditions, solubilize phosphate, and produce siderophores.
Carbon Monoxide as an Electron Donor for the Biological Reduction of Sulphate
- ChemistryInternational journal of microbiology
- 2010
The utilization, inhibition characteristics, and enzymology of CO metabolism as well as the current state of genomics of CO-oxidizing SRB are reviewed.
Isolation and characterization of Sulfurospirillum carboxydovorans sp. nov., a new microaerophilic carbon monoxide oxidizing epsilon Proteobacterium
- BiologyAntonie van Leeuwenhoek
- 2004
Strain MV was able to couple the oxidation of CO to the reduction of elemental sulphur, DMSO and thiosulphate to formate and pyruvate, and inclusion in the genus Sulfurospirillum as a well separated new species is proposed.
Mercury Methylation Independent of the Acetyl-Coenzyme A Pathway in Sulfate-Reducing Bacteria
- BiologyApplied and Environmental Microbiology
- 2003
Four incomplete-oxidizing SRB strains are identified that clearly do not utilize the acetyl-CoA pathway either for metabolism or mercury methylation (as confirmed by the absence of chloroform inhibition) and may not require vitamin B12 in some and perhaps many incomplete-OxidizingSRB strains.
