This paper briefly descrbes the Computer Assisted/Managed Instructional Language (CAMIL), a language developed for applications in computer assisted and computer managed instruction. The language is general purpose in that it is also usable for systems and applications programming. To provide a truly general purpose capability, a design which divides the language into two sublanguages, Basic and Extended CAMIL, was implemented.
