We present new z ~ 8 galaxy candidates from a search over ~95 arcmin2 of WFC3/IR data, tripling the previous search area for bright z ~ 8 galaxies. Our analysis uses newly acquired WFC3/IR imaging data from the CANDELS Multi-Cycle Treasury program over the GOODS-South field. These new data are combined with existing deep optical Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) imaging to search for relatively bright (M UV < –19.5 mag) z ~ 8 galaxy candidates using the Lyman break technique. These new…
Constraining the bright-end of the UV luminosity function for z 7-9 galaxies: results from CANDELS/GOODS-South

UV luminosity functions at redshifts z ∼ 4 to z ∼ 10: 10,000 galaxies from HST legacy fields
The remarkable Hubble Space Telescope?(HST) data sets from the CANDELS, HUDF09, HUDF12, ERS, and BoRG/HIPPIES programs have allowed us to map the evolution of the rest-frame UV luminosity function
The Evolution of the Galaxy Rest-Frame Ultraviolet Luminosity Function Over the First Two Billion Years
We present a robust measurement and analysis of the rest-frame ultraviolet (UV) luminosity functions at z = 4-8. We use deep Hubble Space Telescope imaging over the Cosmic Assembly Near-infrared Deep
The Brightest z ≳ 8 Galaxies over the COSMOS UltraVISTA Field
We present 16 new ultrabright H AB ≲ 25 galaxy candidates at z ˜ 8 identified over the COSMOS/UltraVISTA field. The new search takes advantage of the deepest-available ground-based optical and
Ultra-faint Ultraviolet Galaxies at z ~ 2 behind the Lensing Cluster A1689: The Luminosity Function, Dust Extinction, and Star Formation Rate Density
We have obtained deep ultraviolet imaging of the lensing cluster A1689 with the WFC3/UVIS camera onboard the Hubble Space Telescope in the F275W (30 orbits) and F336W (4 orbits) filters. These images
Galaxy Candidates at z ~ 10 in Archival Data from the Brightest of Reionizing Galaxies (BORG[z8]) Survey
The Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) on the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) enabled the search for the first galaxies observed at z ~ 8 - 11 (500 - 700 Myr after the Big Bang). To continue quantifying the
The UV continua and inferred stellar populations of galaxies at z ~7-9 revealed by the Hubble Ultra-Deep Field 2012 campaign
We use the new ultra-deep, near-infrared imaging of the Hubble Ultra-Deep Field (HUDF) provided by our UDF12 Hubble Space Telescope (HST) Wide Field Camera 3/IR campaign to explore the rest-frame
THE UV LUMINOSITY FUNCTION OF STAR-FORMING GALAXIES VIA DROPOUT SELECTION AT REDSHIFTS z ∼ 7 AND 8 FROM THE 2012 ULTRA DEEP FIELD CAMPAIGN
We present a catalog of high-redshift star-forming galaxies selected to lie within the redshift range z ≃ 7-8 using the Ultra Deep Field 2012 (UDF12), the deepest near-infrared (near-IR) exposures
LOWER-LUMINOSITY GALAXIES COULD REIONIZE THE UNIVERSE: VERY STEEP FAINT-END SLOPES TO THE UV LUMINOSITY FUNCTIONS AT z ⩾ 5-8 FROM THE HUDF09 WFC3/IR OBSERVATIONS*
The HUDF09 data are the deepest near-IR observations ever, reaching to 29.5 mag. Luminosity functions (LFs) from these new HUDF09 data for 132 z ~ 7 and z ~ 8 galaxies are combined with new LFs for z
YOUNG GALAXY CANDIDATES IN THE HUBBLE FRONTIER FIELDS. II. MACS J0416–2403
We searched for z ≳ 7 Lyman-break galaxies in the optical-to-mid-infrared Hubble Frontier Field and associated parallel field observations of the strong-lensing cluster MACS J0416−2403. We discovered
