  • At the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century, the freemasons were fascinated by mesmerism. The sister of one of them, canoness Marie-Louise de Monspey (1733-1813), called the Unknown Agent, wrote more than a hundred notebooks inspired by the Virgin Mary. Her writings, studied by the highest graduated Masonic brothers, contained the ‘true’ doctrine of magnetism, with an esoteric interpretation of human anatomy.
