The Black Hole Interior in AdS/CFT and the Information Paradox

title={The Black Hole Interior in AdS/CFT and the Information Paradox},
  author={Kyriakos Papadodimas and S. Raju},
We show that, within the AdS/CFT correspondence, recent formulations of the information paradox can be reduced to a question about the existence of certain kinds of operators in the CFT. We describe a remarkably simple construction of these operators on a given state of the CFT. Our construction leads to a smooth horizon, addresses the strong subadditivity paradox, while preserving locality within effective field theory, and reconciles the existence of the interior with the growth of states…
CFT descriptions of bulk local states in the AdS black holes
A bstractWe present a new method for reconstructing CFT duals of states excited by the bulk local operators in the three dimensional AdS black holes in the AdS/CFT context. As an important procedure
Remarks on the necessity and implications of state-dependence in the black hole interior
We revisit the ``state-dependence'' of the map that we proposed recently between bulk operators in the interior of a large anti--de Sitter black hole and operators in the boundary CFT. By refining
Lessons from the information paradox
Wilson lines and Ishibashi states in AdS3/CFT2
A bstractWe provide a refined interpretation of a gravitational Wilson line in AdS3 in terms of Ishibashi states in the dual CFT2. Our strategy is to give a method to evaluate the Wilson line that
Probing typical black hole microstates
We investigate the possibility that the geometry dual to a typical AdS black hole microstate corresponds to the extended AdS-Schwarzschild geometry, including a region spacelike to the exterior. We
Emergent classical spacetime from microstates of an incipient black hole
A bstractBlack holes have an enormous underlying space of microstates, but universal macroscopic physics characterized by mass, charge and angular momentum as well as a causally disconnected
New Concepts for Old Black Holes
It has been argued that the AMPS paradox implies catastrophic breakdown of the equivalence principle in the neighborhood of a black hole horizon, or even the non-existence of any spacetime at all
Behind the geon horizon
We explore the Papadodimas–Raju prescription for reconstructing the region behind the horizon of one-sided black holes in AdS/CFT in the case of the R P 2 ?> geon—a simple, analytic example of a
Black holes, entanglement and random matrices
We provide evidence that strong quantum entanglement between Hilbert spaces does not generically create semiclassical wormholes between the corresponding geometric regions in the context of the
Jerusalem Lectures on Black Holes and Quantum Information
In these lectures I give an introduction to the quantum physics of black holes, including recent developments based on quantum information theory such as the rewall paradox and its various cousins. I
