  • I went to work with the LoDagaa of northern Ghana in 1949. They were hoe farmers without an indigenous chief ship. But their ritual and religious life was very full, especially with the Bagre ceremonies, a 'secret' society the membership of which was open to men and women of all ages and took some six months to perform.
