In the initial phases of the REFLEX project we investigated artiicial problems in order to explore the eld of adaptive algorithms such as neural networks and nearest-neighbor methods. A result of this work was the recognition that the mathematical results obtained by studying artiicial problems can not easily be applied to realistic scenarios characterized by their deenition in the open world.
