The Antiplasmodial Activity of Methanol Root Bark Extract of Alstonia Boonei against Plasmodium Berghei Berghei Infection in Mice

title={The Antiplasmodial Activity of Methanol Root Bark Extract of Alstonia Boonei against Plasmodium Berghei Berghei Infection in Mice},
  author={Onwusonye and Uwakwe},
This study was conducted to evaluate the antiplasmodial activity of methanol root bark extract of Alstonia boonei on chloroquine-sensitive Plasmodium berghei berghei infection in mice in order to justify its use as antimalarial remedy in Nigeria folk medicine. The plant extract was screened for blood schizontocidal activity against chloroquine-sensitive plasmodium berghei infection in the mice. The schizontocidal activity was monitored at stages of early and established infection. The…

Antiplasmodial Activity of the Crude Extract and Solvent Fractions of Stem Barks of Gardenia ternifolia in Plasmodium berghei-Infected Mice

Results showed that the hydromethanolic extract and fractions of G. ternifolia stem barks have antiplasmodial action with a high curative effect, indicating that the nonpolar and semipolar constituents of the plant are responsible for the antimalarial effects.

Evaluation of Antiplasmodial Activity of Hydroalcoholic Crude Extract and Solvent Fractions of Zehneria scabra Roots Against Plasmodium berghei in Swiss Albino Mice

The result designated that Zehneria scabra is endowed with significant antimalarial activity, and support the traditional use of ZehnerIA scabRA, for the treatment of malaria.

Suppressive, Curative, and Prophylactic Effects of Maesa lanceolata Forssk. against Rodent Malaria Parasite Plasmodium berghei

The results of this investigation provide support for the activity of M. lanceolata leaf extract against malaria by indicating curative effects of 80% methanolic crude extract were greater than its suppressive and prophylactic effects.

In vivo studies on the biochemical indices of Plasmodium berghei infected mice treated with Alstonia boonei leaf and root extracts

The antiplasmodial potentials of A. boonei leaf and root extracts were dosage and duration-dependent, and have demonstrated satisfactory normalization of altered biochemical indices due to malaria.

Potential antimalarials from African natural products: A reviw

It is shown that natural products from Africa have a huge amount of novel antimalarial compounds that could serve as a leads for the development of new and effective antiplasmodial drugs.

Synergistic Efficacy of Tissue Extracts of Alstonia boonei and Vitex grandifolia against Some Common Bacteria Pathogens

Plant extracts have emerged as credible candidate for treatment of antibiotics resistance and have been widely used in the treatment of various types of diseases.

Journal of Intercultural Ethnopharmacology

The result shows that the latex inhibits the in vitro growth of these pathogenic fungi, and has been a known tradition practiced in the northern part of Nigeria to treat Tinea capitis in children attending the local religious school in the area.

Comparative Study on the Effects of Chloroquine and Artesunate on Histopathological Damages Caused by Plasmodium berghei in Four Vital Organs of Infected Albino Mice

The use of chloroquine and artesunate especially under the practice of self-medication should be prohibited in lands where they are still in use as antimalaria medicine.

The antimalarial activity of N-benzyloxydihydrotriazines. I. The activity of clociguanil (BRL 50216) against rodent malaria, and studies on its mode of action.

A series of N-benzyloxydihydrotriazines were prepared and found to have antimalarial activity against Plasmodium berghei infections in mice. One of the most active of these compounds. 4,6-diamino-1...
