In December of 1997 scientists, educators, and administrators gathered in Gatlinburg, Tennessee to discuss the idea of an all taxa biodiversity inventory (ATBI) of The Great Smoky Mountains National Park and, after three days of exchanging ideas and opinions, the ATBI was born.
