2013 FY27 is the ninth intrinsically brightest Trans-Neptunian Object (TNO). We used ALMA at thermal wavelengths and Magellan in the optical to determine 2013 FY27's size and albedo for the first time and compare it to other dwarf planets. We found 2013 FY27 has a geometric albedo of and effective diameter of km. This puts 2013 FY27 in the transition region between the largest TNOs that have higher albedos and densities than smaller TNOs. No short-term light curve was found, with variations <0…

Rotational Dynamics and Evolution of Planetary Satellites in the Solar and Exoplanetary Systems

Abstract In this review we consider the main rotation regimes that are inherent for planetary satellites of the Solar System, satellites of trans-Neptunian objects, and potential satellites of

Albedo and atmospheric constraints of dwarf planet Makemake from a stellar occultation

TLDR
The disappearances and reappearances of the star were abrupt, showing that Makemake has no global Pluto-like atmosphere at an upper limit of 4–12 nanobar (1σ) for the surface pressure, although a localized atmosphere is possible.

TNOs are Cool: A Survey of the Transneptunian Region

Over one thousand objects have so far been discovered orbiting beyond Neptune. These trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) represent the primitive remnants of the planetesimal disk from which the planets

Light Curves of Dwarf Plutonian Planets and other Large Kuiper Belt Objects: Their Rotations, Phase Functions, and Absolute Magnitudes

I report new time-resolved light curves and determine the rotations and phase functions of several large Kuiper Belt objects, which includes the dwarf planet Eris (2003 UB313). Three of the new

Size and albedo of Kuiper belt object 55636 from a stellar occultation

TLDR
Observations of a multi-chord stellar occultation by KBO 55636, which occurred on 9 October 2009, find that it has a mean radius of 143 ± 5 km and a geometric albedo of in the V photometric band, which establishes that KBO55636 is smaller than previously thought and that, like its parent body, it is highly reflective.

Discovery of a Satellite of the Large Trans-Neptunian Object (225088) 2007 OR10

2007 OR10 is currently the third largest known dwarf planet in the trans-Neptunian region, with an effective radiometric diameter of ∼1535 km. It has a slow rotation period of ∼45 hr that was

The size, shape, density and ring of the dwarf planet Haumea from a stellar occultation

TLDR
Observations from multiple Earth-based observatories of Haumea passing in front of a distant star (a multi-chord stellar occultation) report the presence of a ring with an opacity of 0.5, which constrains the three-dimensional orientation of Haumesa and its triaxial shape, which is inconsistent with a homogeneous body in hydrostatic equilibrium.

Discovery and Physical Characterization of a Large Scattered Disk Object at 92 au

We report the observation and physical characterization of the possible dwarf planet 2014 UZ224 (“DeeDee”), a dynamically detached trans-Neptunian object discovered at 92 au. This object is currently

Stellar occultation by (119951) 2002 KX14 on April 26, 2012

Context. Trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs) are important bodies, but very little is known about their basic physical properties such as size, density, and albedo. Aims. We intend to determine sizes,

The Diverse Solar Phase Curves of Distant Icy Bodies. I. Photometric Observations of 18 Trans-Neptunian Objects, 7 Centaurs, and Nereid

We have measured the solar phase curves in B, V, and I for 18 trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs), 7 Centaurs, and Nereid and determined the rotation curves for 10 of these targets. For each body we have
