We present measurements of the star formation rate (SFR) in the early-type galaxies (ETGs) of the ATLAS 3D sample, based on Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) 22 µm and Galaxy Evolution Explorerfar-ultraviolet emission. We combine these with gas masses estimated from 12 CO and H I data in order to investigate the star formation efficiency (S FE) in a larger sample of ETGs than previously available. We first rec alibrate (based on WISE data) the relation between old stellar populations…

A star formation study of the ATLAS 3D early-type galaxies with the AKARI all-sky survey
Context. The star formation properties of early-type galaxies (ETGs) are currently the subject of considerable interest, particularly whether they differ from the star formation properties of
The ATLAS3D Project – XXX. Star formation histories and stellar population scaling relations of early-type galaxies
We present the stellar population content of early-type galaxies from the ATLAS^(3D) survey. Using spectra integrated within apertures covering up to one effective radius, we apply two methods: one
The dustier early-type galaxies deviate from late-type galaxies’ scaling relations
Several dedicated surveys focusing on early-type galaxies (ETGs) reveal that significant fractions of them are detectable in all interstellar medium phases studied to date. We select ETGs from the
X-ray haloes and starformation in early-type galaxies
High resolution 2D hydrodynamical simulations describing the evolution of the hot ISM in state-of-the-art axisymmetric two-component models of early-type galaxies well reproduced the observed trends
The variation in molecular gas depletion time among nearby galaxies - II. The impact of galaxy internal structures
We use a data set of nearby galaxies drawn from the HERACLES, ATLAS3D, and COLD GASS surveys to study variations in molecular gas depletion time (Tdep) in galaxy structures such as bulges,
Star formation in nearby early-type galaxies: the radio continuum perspective
We present a 1.4 GHz Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array (VLA) study of a sample of early-type galaxies (ETGs) from the ATLAS3D survey. The radio morphologies of these ETGs at a resolution of θFWHM ≈ 5
The Atlas3D project - XXXI. Nuclear radio emission in nearby early-type galaxies
We present the results of a high-resolution, 5 GHz, Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array study of the nuclear radio emission in a representative subset of the ATLAS^(3D) survey of early-type galaxies
The Physical Properties of S0 Galaxy PGC 26218: The Origin of Starburst and Star Formation
We present 2D-spectroscopic observations from the Centro Astronómico Hispano Alemán 3.5 m telescope and millimeter observations from the NOrthern Extended Millimeter Array of the nearby S0 galaxy PGC
The MASSIVE survey - III. Molecular gas and a broken Tully-Fisher relation in the most massive early-type galaxies
In this work, we present CO(1–0) and CO(2–1) observations of a pilot sample of 15 early-type galaxies (ETGs) drawn from the MASSIVE galaxy survey, a volume-limited integral-field spectroscopic study
The SAMI galaxy survey: Kinematics of dusty early-type galaxies
Recently, large samples of visually classified early-type galaxies (ETGs) containing dust have been identified using space-based infrared observations with the Herschel Space Telescope. The presence

The ATLAS3D project - XXII. Low-efficiency star formation in early-type galaxies: hydrodynamic models and observations
We study the global efficiency of star formation in high-resolution hydrodynamical simulations of gas discs embedded in isolated early-type and spiral galaxies. Despite using a universal local law to
The ATLAS3D project - XIV. The extent and kinematics of the molecular gas in early-type galaxies
We use interferometric (CO)-C-12(1-0) observations to compare and contrast the extent, surface brightness profiles and kinematics of the molecular gas in CO-rich ATLAS(3D) early-type galaxies (ETGs)
The ATLAS3D project - XIX. The hot gas content of early-type galaxies: fast versus slow rotators
For early-type galaxies, the ability to sustain a corona of hot, X-ray-emitting gas could have played a key role in quenching their star formation history. A halo of hot gas may act as an effective
The ATLAS3D project - X. On the origin of the molecular and ionized gas in early-type galaxies
We make use of interferometric CO and HI observations, and optical integral-field spectroscopy from the ATLAS 3D survey to probe the origin of the molecular and ionised interstellar medium (ISM) in
The ATLAS3D project - XIII. Mass and morphology of H I in early-type galaxies as a function of environment
We present the ATLAS3D H i survey of a volume-limited, complete sample of 166 nearby early-type galaxies (ETGs) brighter than MK=-21.5. The survey is mostly based on data taken with the Westerbork
The ATLAS3D project – XI. Dense molecular gas properties of CO-luminous early-type galaxies
Surveying 18 12CO-bright galaxies from the ATLAS3D early-type galaxy sample with the Institut de Radio Astronomie Millimetrique (IRAM) 30-m telescope, we detect 13CO(1-0) and 13CO(2-1) in all 18
The ATLAS3D project - VII. A new look at the morphology of nearby galaxies: the kinematic morphology-density relation
In Paper I of this series we introduced a volume-limited parent sample of 871 galaxies from which we extracted the ATLAS(3D) sample of 260 early-type galaxies (ETGs). In Papers II and III we
