We present an analysis of spectrosopic and astrometric data from APOGEE-2 and Gaia DR2 to identify structures towards the Orion Complex. By applying a hierarchical clustering algorithm to the 6-dimensional stellar data, we identify spatially and/or kinematically distinct groups of young stellar objects with ages ranging from 1 to 12 Myr. We also investigate the star forming history within the Orion Complex, and identify peculiar sub-clusters. With this method we reconstruct the older…
Discovery of a 21 Myr old stellar population in the Orion complex
Context. The Orion complex is arguably the most studied star-forming region in the Galaxy. While stars are still being born in the Orion nebula, the oldest part was believed to be no more than 13 Myr
Structure, kinematics, and ages of the young stellar populations in the Orion region
We present a study of the three dimensional structure, kinematics, and age distribution of the Orion OB association, based on the second data release of the Gaia satellite (Gaia DR2). Our goal is to
A stellar relic filament in the Orion star-forming region
We report the discovery of the oldest stellar substructure in the Orion star-forming region (OSFR), the Orion relic filament. The relic filament is physically associated with the OSFR, as
Stellar Rotation of T Tauri Stars in the Orion Star-forming Complex
We present a large-scale study of stellar rotation for T Tauri stars in the Orion star-forming complex. We use the projected rotational velocity ( vsin(i) ) estimations reported by the APOGEE-2
Untangling the Galaxy. I. Local Structure and Star Formation History of the Milky Way
Gaia DR2 provides unprecedented precision in measurements of the distance and kinematics of stars in the solar neighborhood. Through applying unsupervised machine learning on DR2's 5-dimensional
Stars and brown dwarfs in the σ Orionis cluster
Context. Only a few open clusters are as important for the study of stellar and substellar objects, and their formation and evolution, as the young σ Orionis cluster. However, a complete
Kinematics in Young Star Clusters and Associations withGaiaDR2
The Gaia mission has opened a new window into the internal kinematics of young star clusters at the sub-km/s level, with implications for our understanding of how star clusters form and evolve. We
The CIDA Variability Survey of Orion OB1. II. Demographics of the Young, Low-mass Stellar Populations
We present results of our large scale, optical, multi-epoch photometric survey of ~180 square degrees across the Orion OB1 association, complemented with extensive follow up spectroscopy. We map and
Stellar Proper Motions in the Orion Nebula Cluster
The Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) is the nearest site of ongoing massive star formation, which allows us to study the kinematics and dynamics of the region in detail and constrain star formation
A Kinematic Perspective on the Formation Process of the Stellar Groups in the Rosette Nebula
Stellar kinematics is a powerful tool for understanding the formation process of stellar associations. Here, we present a kinematic study of the young stellar population in the Rosette nebula using

Mapping young stellar populations towards Orion with Gaia DR1
We use the first data release of the Gaia mission to explore the three dimensional arrangement and the age ordering of the many stellar groups towards the Orion OB association, aiming at a new
A Preliminary Study of the Orion Nebula Cluster Structure and Dynamics
We use optical and near-infrared star counts to explore the structure and dynamics of the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC). This very young (<1 Myr) cluster is not circularly symmetric in projection but is
25 Orionis: A Kinematically Distinct 10 Myr Old Group in Orion OB1a*
We report here on the photometric and kinematic properties of a well-defined group of nearly 200 low-mass pre-main-sequence stars, concentrated within ~1? of the early-B star 25 Ori, in the Orion
Overview of the Orion Complex
The Orion star formation complex is the nearest region of on-going star formation that continues to produce both low and high mass stars. Orion is discussed in the larger context of star formation in
Kinematic Structure of the Orion Nebula Cluster and Its Surroundings
We present results from 1351 high-resolution spectra of 1215 stars in the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) and the surrounding Orion 1c association, obtained with the Hectochelle multiobject echelle
The APOGEE-2 Survey of the Orion Star Forming Complex: I. Target Selection and Validation with early observations
The Orion Star Forming Complex (OSFC) is a central target for the APOGEE-2 Young Cluster Survey. Existing membership catalogs span limited portions of the OSFC, reflecting the difficulty of selecting
IN-SYNC IV - The Young Stellar Population in the Orion A Molecular Cloud
We present the results of the SDSS APOGEE INfrared Spectroscopy of Young Nebulous Clusters program (IN-SYNC) survey of the Orion A molecular cloud. This survey obtained high resolution near infrared
IN-SYNC. V. Stellar kinematics and dynamics in the Orion A Molecular Cloud
The kinematics and dynamics of young stellar populations enable us to test theories of star formation. With this aim, we continue our analysis of the SDSS-III/APOGEE IN-SYNC survey, a high resolution
The CIDA variability survey of Orion OB1. I. The low-mass population of Ori OB1a and 1B
We present results of a large-scale, multiepoch optical survey of the Orion OB1 association, carried out with the QUEST camera at the Venezuela National Astronomical Observatory. We identify for the
Kinematics of the Orion Nebula Cluster: Velocity Substructure and Spectroscopic Binaries
We present a kinematic study of the Orion Nebula Cluster (ONC) based upon RVs measured by multifiber echelle spectroscopy at the 6.5 m MMT and Magellan telescopes. Velocities are reported for 1613
