The ALEU2 gene, encoding beta-isopropylmalate dehydrogenase, was isolated from the non-conventional yeast Arxula adeninivorans. The isolated gene harbours an open reading frame of 1086 bp, encoding a putative protein of 362 amino acids. The derived protein sequence shares a high degree of homology with other fungal beta-isopropylmalate dehydrogenases thus confirming the identity of the gene.
