Starting with the first international publication of Le Van Thiem (Lê Văn Thiêm) in 1947, modern mathematics in Vietnam is a longstanding research field. However, what is known about its development usually comes from discrete essays such as anecdotes or interviews of renowned mathematicians. We introduce SciMath—a database on publications of Vietnamese mathematicians. To ensure this database covers as many publications as possible, data entries are manually collected from scientists…

A reflection on the journey to build the first national science databases

The essay presents a compelling case of letting young graduates work on big database-building projects: one on Vietnamese social sciences; the other is more than 80 years of the pioneer science in Vietnam—mathematics.

Depth functions of symbolic powers of homogeneous ideals

This paper addresses the problem of comparing minimal free resolutions of symbolic powers of an ideal. Our investigation is focused on the behavior of the function \({{\,\mathrm{depth}\,}}R/I^{(t)} =

Lie groups with square integrable representations

Let G be a separable locally compact group, Z a closed subgroup contained in the center of G such that center (G)/Z is compact. An irreducible unitary representation X of G is said to be square
