The \texttau{} challenge at FCC-ee

At FCC-ee, about 1.7 × 10 Z → ττ events will be produced. This high statistics in the clean e + e − environment opens the possibility of much improved determinations of τ-lepton properties and, via the measurement of the τ polarisation, of the neutral-current couplings of electrons and τ s. Improved measurements of τ-lepton properties – lifetime, leptonic branching fractions, and mass – allow important tests of lepton universality. The experimental challenge is to match as far as possible… Expand

Precision electroweak measurements on the Z resonance
• Physics
• 2006
We report on the final electroweak measurements performed with data taken at the Z resonance by the experiments operating at the electron-positron colliders SLC and LEP. The data consist of 17Expand
Exploring requirements and detector solutions for FCC-ee
• Physics
• 2021
Circular colliders have the advantage of delivering collisions to multiple interaction points, which allow different detector designs to be studied and optimized – up to four for FCC-ee. On the oneExpand
Measurement of the τ-lepton lifetime at Belle.
The lifetime of the τ lepton is measured using the process e+ e- → τ+ τ- , where both τ leptons decay to 3πν(τ). The result for the mean lifetime, based on 711  fb(-1) of data collected with theExpand
Tau-lepton Physics at the FCC-ee circular e$^+$e$^-$ Collider
The future FCC-ee collider is designed to deliver $\mathrm{e^+e^-}$ collisions to study with ultimate precision the Z, W, and Higgs bosons, and the top quark. In a high-statistics scan around the ZExpand
Branching ratios and spectral functions of tau decays: Final ALEPH measurements and physics implications
The full LEP-1 data set collected with the ALEPH detector at the Z pole during 1991-1995 is analysed in order to measure the tau decay branching fractions. The analysis follows the global method usedExpand
FCC-ee: The Lepton Collider
Abstract In response to the 2013 Update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics, the Future Circular Collider (FCC) study was launched, as an international collaboration hosted by CERN. ThisExpand
Final analysis of KEDR data on J /ψ and ψ(2S) masses
Abstract We present the analysis of all KEDR data on the determination of J / ψ and ψ ( 2 S ) masses. The data comprise six scans of J / ψ and seven scans of ψ ( 2 S ) which were performed at theExpand
FCC-ee overview: new opportunities create new challenges
• Physics
• 2021
With its high luminosity, its clean experimental conditions, and a range of energies that cover the four heaviest particles known today, FCC-ee offers a wealth of physics possibilities, with highExpand
Predictions for Z → μ τ and Related Reactions †

We discuss predictions for the lepton-flavour changing decays Z → eµ, µτ, eτ which may be searched for at the Giga–Z option of the Tesla Linear Collider project with Z resonance production rates asExpand
A measurement of the τ mass and the first CPT test with τ leptons
• Physics
• 2000
Abstract We measure the mass of the τ to be 1775.1±1.6( m cn stat. )±1.0( m cn sys. ) MeV using τ from Z 0 decays. To test CPT invariance we compare the masses of the positively and negativelyExpand
