The Urban Wildlife Program of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department became active in 1993 starting with 1 program leader and 3 urban biologists located in 2 metropolitan areas. Today the program consists of 9 urban wildlife biologists in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, and the Lower Rio Grande Valley area.
