The reactions between a salen ligand N,N'-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)-1,2-cyclohexanediamine (H2L) and different metal salts lead to the formation of four 3d-4f [MDy] and [MDy]2 (M = Zn/Cu) compounds, where the [MDy]2 can be considered as resulting from the assembly of two [MDy] building blocks. Field-induced single molecule magnet (SMM) behavior was observed in [ZnDy] and [CuDy] compounds with the effective suppression of fast quantum tunneling under a dc field. Moreover, the [ZnDy]2 compound…
Heterometallic Zn3 Ln3 Ensembles Containing (μ6 -CO3 ) Ligand and Triangular Disposition of Ln3+ ions: Analysis of Single-Molecule Toroic (SMT) and Single-Molecule Magnet (SMM) Behavior.
TLDR
Two new heterometallic Zn3 Ln3 (Ln3+ =Dy, Tb) complexes, with a double triangular topology of the metal ions, have been assembled from the polytopic Mannich base ligand with the aid of an in situ generated carbonate ligand from atmospheric CO2 fixation.
Enhancement of magnetic relaxation properties with 3d diamagnetic cations in [ZnIILnIII] and [NiIILnIII], LnIII = Kramers lanthanides.
TLDR
The dynamic magnetic measurements showed that the [NiIILnIII] and [ZnIILNIII] derivatives exhibit different behaviors in the relaxation of magnetization especially for oblate and prolate LnIII cations.
Single molecule magnet behaviors of Zn4Ln2 (Ln = DyIII, TbIII) complexes with multidentate organic ligands formed by absorption of CO2 in air through in situ reactions.
TLDR
The syntheses, crystal structures and magnetic properties of three novel Zn-Ln mixed metal complexes, namely L12- and L23- were formed from the ligand L [L = N1,N3-bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)diethylenetriamine] through in situ reactions, and carbon dioxide in air was absorbed in the process of forming carbamate ligands.
Role of the Diamagnetic Zinc(II) Ion in Determining the Electronic Structure of Lanthanide Single-Ion Magnets.
TLDR
These structurally analogous complexes unambiguously suggest that the electrostatic repulsion is found to be maximal when the Zn-O-Dy-O dihedral angle is small, which is an ideal condition to maximize the anisotropic barrier in DyIII complexes.
Dinucleating Schiff base ligand in Zn/4f coordination chemistry: synthetic challenges and catalytic activity evaluation.
TLDR
These air-stable heterometallic PCCs were shown to remain stable in solution in their dinuclear [ZnIILnIIIL] form and their catalytic activity was evaluated in various catalytic transformations including the Friedel-Crafts alkylation of 2-acyl imidazoles with indoles.
The role of 3d-4f exchange interaction in SMM behaviour and magnetic refrigeration of carbonato bridged CuLn (Ln = Dy, Tb and Gd) complexes of an unsymmetrical N2O4 donor ligand.
TLDR
The strategic design and synthesis of a new Cu(ii) complex of an asymmetrically dicondensed N2O4 donor ligand and its utilization as a metalloligand towards the synthesis of three new tetra-nuclear carbonato bridged Cu-Ln complexes, revealing the ferromagnetic interactions between the CuII and LnIII centres in all three complexes.
Structural variations in (CuL)2Ln complexes of a series of lanthanide ions with a salen-type unsymmetrical Schiff base(H2L): Dy and Tb derivatives as potential single-molecule magnets.
TLDR
It was found that only complexes 2 and 3 exhibit slow relaxation of magnetization reorientation below 10 K at 2000 Oe applied dc field, this being characteristic of single molecule magnets.

TLDR
Dynamic measurements reveal that 2-4 display a single-molecule magnet behavior, while the Co2Eu (1) analogue does not show any out-of-phase ac susceptibility, and trinuclear heterobimetalllic compounds 1-4 retain their integrity in solution as determined by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry studies.
Systematic studies of the structures and magnetic properties for a family of cubane complexes with the formula: [M2Ln2] (Ln = Dy, Gd; M = Ni, Zn) and [Ni2Y2].
TLDR
It was concluded that the decrease in χ(M)T-T upon cooling for complex 2 (Zn(2)Dy(2)) might be partly due to antiferromagnetic coupling between Dy(III) ions, which can be attributed to magnetoanisotropy contributions from Dy( III) ions.
