Conditions associated with impaired nitric oxide (NO) activity and accelerated atherosclerosis have been shown to be associated with a reduced bioavailability of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4). We therefore hypothesized that BH4 supplementation may improve endothelial dysfunction of chronic smokers.
