Tests of the Intense Neutron Source (INS) Prototype


A prototype of the INS accelerator system was constructed to produce an intense dc beam of protons at energies up to 200 keV. Using a Pierce geometry accelerating system, a 250-mA dc beam of hydrogen ions was extracted at an energy of 125 keV from an annular duoplasmatron.
