Microvariability consists in small time scale variations of low amplitude in the photometric light curves of quasars, and represents an important tool to investigate their inner core. Detection of quasar microvariations is challenging for their non-periodicity, as well as the need for high monitoring frequency and high signal-to-noise ratio. Statistical tests developed for the analysis of quasar differential light curves usually show either low power or low reliability, or both. In this paper… Expand

In an optical monitoring program to characterize the variability properties of blazars, we observed 10 sources from the Roma-BZCAT catalog for 26 nights in V and R bands during 2014 October to 2015Expand
Optical Flux and Spectral Variability of the TeV Blazar PG 1553+113
• Physics
• The Astrophysical Journal
• 2019
We present the results of our optical (VRI) observations of the TeV blazar PG 1553+113 over eight nights in 2016 April. We monitored the blazar quasi-simultaneously in V and R bands each night andExpand
Nature of intranight optical variability of BL Lacertae
We present the results of extensive multiband intranight optical monitoring of BL Lacertae during 2010-2012. BL Lacertae was very active in this period and showed intense variability in almost allExpand
Optical Variability of the TeV Blazar 1ES 0806+524 on Diverse Timescales
We report the results of our optical (VRI) photometric observations of the TeV blazar 1ES 0806$+$524 on 153 nights during 2011-2019 using seven optical telescopes in Europe and Asia. We investigatedExpand

In a first systematic effort to characterize the intra-night optical variability (INOV) of different classes of narrow line Seyfert 1 (NLSy1) galaxies, we have carried out observations on a sample ofExpand
Multi-Wavelength Intra-Day Variability and Quasi-Periodic Oscillation in Blazars
We reviewed multi-wavelength blazars variability and detection of quasi-periodic oscillations on intra-day timescales. The variability timescale from a few minutes to up to less than a days isExpand
Multi-Band Intra-Night Optical Variability of BL Lacertae
We monitored BL Lacertae frequently during 2014–2016 when it was generally in a high state. We searched for intra-day variability for 43 nights using quasi-simultaneous measurements in the B, V, R,Expand
