We have studied testicular function in the biotin-deficient rat biochemically and morphologically. Serum testosterone and luteinizing hormone (LH) levels were decreased significantly in the deficient rats. Administration of biotin or gonadotropins to the deficient rats reversed this decrease in serum testosterone. There was no difference in the serum cholesterol level between the control and biotin-deficient rats. A significant degree of sloughing of seminiferous tubule germinal epithelium was…
Dietary intake of high‐dose biotin inhibits spermatogenesis in young rats
TLDR
It is demonstrated that the long‐term intake of high‐dose biotin inhibited spermatogenesis in young male rats and the accumulation of biotin in the liver and testis increased in a dose‐dependent manner.
Effect of biotin on ammonia intoxication in rats and mice
TLDR
Findings indicate the protective effect of biotin against ammonia intoxication, as the decrease in brain glutamate and aspartate after ammonia loading was lower and the brain glutamine level was higher in biotin-treated mice than in the controls.
The effects of the dietary biotin on zebrafish Danio rerio reproduction
TLDR
The results confirmed that delayed spermato-genesis and decreased number of spermatozoa inrats were also attributed to biotin deficiency, which was found to decrease the fertility of fruit.
Current knowledge on biotin nutrition in fish and research perspectives
TLDR
A comparative analysis of current knowledge on biotin physiology and nutritional biochemistry in terrestrial and aquatic animal nutrition is provided in order to plan further studies.
The interactive effect of dietary water-soluble vitamin levels on the depression of gonadal development in growing male rats kept under disturbed daily rhythm.
TLDR
The results showed that the depression of gonadal development in rats kept under disturbed daily rhythm was improved by getting a high amount of PA and normal amount of VB6 and VB1.

Endogenous testosterone concentrations in rat testis interstitial tissue and seminiferous tubules during in vitro incubation.
TLDR
The Sertoli cell of the seminiferous tubules may also produce steroid hormones, which may be involved in the control of spermatogenesis and the exact relative roles of the two types of cells are unknown.
Testosterone maintains pituitary and serum FSH and spermatogenesis in gonadotrophin-releasing hormone antagonist-suppressed rats.
TLDR
Testosterone prevented the antagonist-induced fall in both serum and pituitary FSH, but not GnRH receptors, below that observed in the vehicle plus testosterone-treated group, and spermatogenesis in the antagonist plus testosterone -treated group was indistinguishable from that observedin control animals.
Stimulation of spermatogenesis in stalk-sectioned rhesus monkeys by testosterone alone.
TLDR
It is concluded that testosterone alone can stimulate spermatogenesis in stalk-sectioned rhesus monkeys even in the face of high serum PRL and estradiol levels.
Evidence for Intratesticular Factors Which Mediate the Response of Leydig Cells to Disruption of Spermatogenesis
The traditional view of endocrine regulation of the testis placed the hypothalamic-pituitary unit in a commanding position such that the releasing and inhibiting hormones of the hypothalamus
Biotin-mediated protein biosynthesis.
TLDR
Analysis of the products of amino acid incorporation into liver proteins in vivo and in vitro indicated that the synthesis of some proteins was stimulated more than twofold, but others were not stimulated at all, which indicates a specificity in the stimulation of protein synthesis mediated by biotin.
Pathological Studies of Acute Biotin Deficiency in the Rat.∗
Summary The pathology occurring in the thymus, testis, epididymis, skin and muscles of the acutely biotin-deficient rat is reported. No degeneration of the spinal cord or sciatic nerves was observed

Hypophysectomized male rats treated with polydimethylsiloxane capsules containing testosterone: effects on spermatogenesis, fertility, and reproductive tract concentrations of androgens.
TLDR
Without gonadotropins, higher than normal levels of serum T are required to maintain normal fertility, although this normal reproductive capacity is possible even with greatly reduced testicular T concentrations.
