Interlayer transport in high-TC cuprates is mediated by superconducting tunneling across the CuO2 planes. For this reason, the terahertz frequency optical response is dominated by one or more Josephson plasma resonances and becomes highly nonlinear at fields for which the tunneling supercurrents approach their critical value, IC. These large terahertz nonlinearities are in fact a hallmark of superconducting transport. Surprisingly, however, they have been documented in La2-xBaxCuO4 also above… Expand

Magnetic-Field Tuning of Light-Induced Superconductivity in Striped La_{2-x}Ba_{x}CuO_{4}.
The data are interpreted as an indication that optically enhanced interlayer coupling in La_{2-x}Ba_{x}CuO_{4} does not originate from a simple optical melting of stripes, as previously hypothesized, and it is speculated that the photoinduced state may emerge from activated tunneling between optically excited stripes in adjacent planes. Probing optically silent superfluid stripes in cuprates
The findings suggest the formation of a peculiar spatially modulated superconducting state called the pair-density wave, in which nonlinear mixing of optically silent tunneling modes drives large dipole-carrying supercurrents. Expand
Long-Range Incommensurate Charge Fluctuations in (Y,Nd)Ba2Cu3O6+x
A State of High Tc Superconductivity There are strong indications that high-temperature superconductivity in the cuprates is formed amid competing orders, but only two have been observed… Expand
