Tenoxicam was significantly better tolerated than piroxicam with 0 and 4 patients, respectively, failing to complete the study because of adverse effects. In addition, the incidence of adverse effects was significantly greater in piroxicam compared with tenoxicam recipients (table II). No change in laboratory parameters was observed in either group with the exception of erythrocyte sedimentation rate, which was significantly improved in the patients treated with tenoxicam.
