Temporal Information and Event Markup Language (TIE-ML) is a markup strategy and annotation schema to improve the productivity and accuracy of temporal and event related annotation of corpora to facilitate machine learning based model training. For the annotation of events, temporal sequencing, and durations, it is significantly simpler by providing an extremely reduced tag set for just temporal relations and event enumeration. In comparison to other standards, as for example the Time Markup… Expand

TimeML: Robust Specification of Event and Temporal Expressions in Text
TLDR
TimeML is described, a rich specification language for event and temporal expressions in natural language text, developed in the context of the AQUAINT program on Question Answering Systems, and demonstrated for a delayed (underspecified) interpretation of partially determined temporal expressions. TLDR
A formal denotational semantics for TimeML is provided, addressing problems of operator scope that arise in the context of a "flat" representation language and providing a sketch of an intensional extension to the main extensional semantics. Expand

The Specification Language TimeML
TLDR
This paper provides a description of TimeML, a rich specification language for event and temporal expressions in natural language text, developed in the context of the AQUAINT program on Question Answering Systems, and demonstrates the expressiveness of timeML for a broad range of syntactic and semantic contexts. Annotating Events and Temporal Information in Newswire Texts
TLDR
An annotation scheme for annotating those features and relations in texts which enable us to determine the relative order and, if possible, the absolute time, of the events reported in them is devised. Expand
Temporal Information Extraction
TLDR
TIE is presented, a novel, information-extraction system, which distills facts from text while inducing as much temporal information as possible, and performs global inference, enforcing transitivity to bound the start and ending times for each event. Expand

TLDR
A temporal closure component can be embedded in a temporal annotation environment and derives new implied relations from them, in eect making explicit what was implicit. Expand
Building a temporally annotated corpus for information extraction
TLDR
An annotation scheme for annotating those features and relations in texts which enable us to determine the relative order and, if possible, the absolute time, of the events reported in them is devised, which is being used to construct a temporally annotated corpus. Expand
Introduction to the special issue on temporal information processing
TLDR
Some of the ways time is expressed in natural language, and the particular requirements this imposes on information processing systems are described, followed by an overview of current annotation-based approaches to temporal information extraction. Expand
