MRI and ultrasound scanner are the two main methods used to guide thermal ablation. The superiority of MRI over ultrasound scanner comes from its ability to provide temperature mapping during thermal ablation. This paper describes the relationship between the changes in ultrasound backscattering and the temperature changes during HIFU treatments.
