Purpose. The DrÄger Cato anesthetic machine (DrÄger, LÜbeck, Germany) effectively humidifies and warms anesthetic gases, because it has a built-in hotplate to heat the breathing system, and expired gas passes through the CO2 absorbent three times during one breath.
