Results of the systematic review and regional palaeobiogeographical context of Tegula atra, including morphometric, multivariate and cladistic analyses, show that it is a keystone species in the marine Quaternary of Argentina that can be used as Pleistocene biostratigraphical tool and paleoclimate-palaeoceanographical signal.
