Barium titanate, BaTiO 3 , has applications in optical information processing by using its excellent photorefractive properties. Growth of BaTiO 3 by the top-seeded solution growth technique is unusually difficult compared to the growth of other crystals. Single-crystal quality is very sensitive to temperature changes.
