This paper discusses the approach taken in conducting a real-time digital signal processing (DSP) design class for undergraduates. The most recent TMS320C5402 DSP Starter Kit (DSK) from Texas Instruments (TI) is used, and a set of courseware that exposes students to both theoretical understanding and hands-on exercises is developed.
