Parasitic fauna of birds connected with water environment, including digeneans, is relatively well researched in Poland. The exception, however, is West Pomerania, where those birds were not frequent objects of parasitological research until recently. The purpose of this work is to determine the taxonomic structure of the Digenea, parasitising wild ducks living in West Pomerania. The research material was 124 individuals of wild Anatinae (Anseriformes) belonging to 8 species: Anas strepera, A… Expand
Diplostomum and Ornithodiplostomum scardinii (Diplostomidae, Digenea) species from naturally infected birds (Anatinae) in the Czech Republic and in Poland: morphological, morphometric and ecological features
TLDR
The morphological and morphometric description of the adult form of O. scardinii presented in this study has been the first such description of a specimen obtained from a naturally infected bird, and the highest intensity of infection was observed in the gossander. Expand
Trematode fauna (Platyhelminthes: Digenea) of some sea ducks wintering on the southern Baltic coast (NW Poland) – a general comparison
TLDR
The common scoter differs from the velvet scoter and long-tailed duck in its statistically significantly higher prevalence of G. brevicolle, lower prevalence of L. propinqua and lower intensity of infection with C. concava. Expand
Digenean communities in the tufted duck [Aythya fuligula (L., 1758)] and greater scaup [A. marila (L., 1761)] wintering in the north-west of Poland
TLDR
The structural similarity between digenean communities in the two duck species is most likely an effect of overlapping diets based on freshwater molluscs, components of thedigenean transmission pathway to definitive hosts. Expand
Integrative taxonomy of central European parasitic flatworms of the family Prosthogonimidae Lühe, 1909 (Trematoda: Plagiorchiida).
TLDR
Intra- and inter-specific sequence variability revealed that all four species represent distinct well-defined entities, and an updated key to European Prosthogonimus spp. Expand

TLDR
During the following three years up to the middle of 2010, 64 new species of Polish helminths were detected: 7 Monogenea, 15 Trematoda (Digenea), 21 Cestoda, 20 Nematoda and one Acanthocephala. Expand
[Intestinal digeneans of Gavia stellata (Pontoppidan, 1763) and Gavia arctica (Linnaeus, 1758) from West Pomerania, Poland].
TLDR
In 2000 and 2006 a total of 20 divers including 15 Gavia stellata and 5 Gavia artica from Pomeranian Bay and Szczecin Lagoon were examined, finding Stephanoprora pseudoechinata in G. arctica in Poland. Expand
[Digenea of Haliaeetus albicilla (Linnaeus, 1758) and Pandion haliaetus (Linnaeus, 1758) from middle and north-western Poland].
TLDR
In 2003-2008 eight white-tailed eagles and two ospreys from middle and north-western Poland were examined for the presence of parasites and M. crassiusculus was found for the first time in an eagle from Poland. Expand
GEOGRAPHIC AND ECOLOGIC ASPECTS OF THE COMMUNITY STRUCTURE OF TREMATODES OF MALLARDS (ANAS PLATYRHYNCHOS) IN NORTHERN POLAND AND THE CZECH REPUBLIC
TLDR
Trematode infestation of Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) varies between northern Poland and the Czech Republic, and the structure of the trematode fauna was hierarchic, and trematodes species had different positions in this hierarchy in the two countries. Expand
Parasites in a man-made landscape: contrasting patterns of trematode flow in a fishpond area in Central Europe
TLDR
3 hypotheses for the remarkable differences in larval trematode flow in the similar and closely located eutrophic ponds are put forward: species-specific differences in parasite colonization potential displayed by an ‘active-passive’ dichotomy in miracidial transmission strategies of the species, top-down effects of pond context on transmission pathways of the trematodes, and competition as an important mechanism in eUTrophic environments with a bottom-up effect on component community structure. First Finding of Ornithodiplostomum scardinii (Schulman, 1952) Sudarikov et Kurotschkin, 1968 (Trematoda, Diplostomidae) in Rybinsk Reservoir
During a parasitological survey of nonnative fish species—rudd Scardinius erythrophthalmus—in the Rybinsk Reservoir, the metacercariae Ornithodiplostomum scardinii were found in its brain. This isExpand
