The Afrotropical species of Pachyanthidium Friese are revised. Sixteen species are recognized in four subgenera. One new species, Pachyanthidium (Trichanthidium) anoplos sp. n. is described; and one species, Pachyanthidium (Trichanthidium) cucullatum (Friese), is reinstated as a valid species. Four new synonymy are proposed: Pachyanthidium minutulum Pasteels =Pachyanthidium (Trichanthidiodes) semiluteum Pasteels syn. n.; Anthidium africanum Smith = P.
