The effects of structural analogues, excitatory amino acids and certain drugs on spontaneous and potassium-stimulated exogenous taurine and GABA release were investigated in mouse cerebral cortex slices using a superfusion system. Spontaneous efflux of both amino acids was rather slow but could be enhanced by their uptake inhibitors.
