In this paper to a new target detection algorithm for sonar images based on segmention using Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and Morphological Operations is proposed. In the proposed approach morphological operations are applied after EMD to provide higher detection accuracy. Experimental results show that the EMD based approach proposed in this paper improves target detection accuracy.
