Proanthocyanidins (PAs) are a group of bioflavonoids consisting of oligomers based on catechin monomeric units. These polyphenolic compounds are widely distributed in higher plants and are an integral part of the human diet. A sensitive LC-tandem mass spectrometric (LC/ESI-MS(n)) method in the positive ion mode for sequencing these ubiquitous and highly beneficial antioxidants is described. The hydroxylation patterns and interflavanoid linkage for A- and B-type PAs were determined by fragment…
The mass spectral analysis of isolated hops A-type proanthocyanidins by electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry.
Ten A-type and six B-type hop PAs are reported here for the first time, and distinguishing features in the mass spectral patterns between the two classes include 2-Da mass differences in the pseudo molecular ions.
Advanced analysis of oligomeric proanthocyanidins: latest approaches in liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry based analysis
Recent innovative LC–MS and MALDI-TOF methods, innovative strategies for advanced processing of LC-HRMS data, MS/MS fragmentation, and newest two-dimensional LC × LC (Offline, Online, Stop-flow-2D) chromatography are focused on.
Analysis of iridoid glucosides from Paederia scandens using HPLC-ESI-MS/MS.
Profiles analysis of proanthocyanidins in the argun nut (Medemia argun--an ancient Egyptian palm) by LC-ESI-MS/MS.
A sensitive high-performance liquid chromatography and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry method in the negative ion mode for sequencing these ubiquitous and highly beneficial antioxidants is described in order to profile different PACs in M. argun nuts.
Rapid Determination of Procyanidins Using MALDI-ToF/ToF Mass Spectrometry.
Although procyanidins constitute a unique class of polymeric plant secondary metabolites with a variety of biological properties including potent antioxidant activity, structure determination has
Substitution pattern elucidation of hydroxypropyl Pinus pinaster (Ait.) bark polyflavonoid derivatives by ESI(-)-MS/MS.
The results showed that P. pinaster bark CTs possess structural homogeneity in terms of monomeric units (C(15), catechin), and a high structural heterogeneity of the modified oligomers was detected.
Analyses of the iridoid glucoside dimers in Paederia scandens using HPLC-ESI-MS/MS.
Linkage sites between different hydroxyl groups on the sugar and carboxyl groups for the three groups of isomers are confirmed and the MS method is a useful tool for the analysis of isomeric dimers, especially trace isomers in a complicated extract.
High-level structural analysis of proanthocyanidins using full collision energy ramp-MS2 spectrum.
Evaluation of the Degree of Polymerization of the Proanthocyanidins in Cranberry by Molecular Sieving and Characterization of the Low Molecular Weight Fractions by UHPLC-Orbitrap Mass Spectrometry
Data strongly suggests that A2 is not cranberry-derived, or is adulterated with another source of PACs, and an efficient method for assessing PAC molecular weight distributions is developed.
