Three new species of Tanaidacea are described from the Cape Verde archipelago in the Mid-Atlantic, collected during thesampling program of the Laboratory of Marine Community Ecology and Evolution (LMCEE) to Macaronesia and formerPortuguese colonies. The new species belong to the tanaidomorphan families Leptocheliidae (Leptochelia parasavignyi), Paratanaidae (Paratanais vicentetis), and Pseudotanaidae (Pseudotanais Akanthinotanais breviaquas).
New Tanaidacea (Crustacea: Peracarida) from the Gulf of Guinea
Four new species of deep-sea Tanaidacea taken from the Gulf of Guinea as part of the Ghanaian marine environmental monitoring programme in 2012 are described. One of the species, which was classifiedExpand
New data on the Tanaidacea (Crustacea: Peracarida) from the Canary Islands, with a description of a new species of Apseudopsis.
TLDR
Benthic samples from two harbours at El Hierro and Tenerife (Canary Islands) yielded three species of Tanaidacea, including a new species of Apseudomorpha, which can be differentiated from other species of the genus by the male having a cheliped merus with a distinctive, cylindrical dorso-proximal spur. Expand
A new species of Paratanais Dana, 1852 (Crustacea, Peracarida, Tanaidacea, Paratanaidae) from Puerto Rico, northwestern Atlantic
Abstract Paratanais rosadi sp. n. described from Puerto Rican coastal waters represents the first species of the genus from the northwestern Atlantic. It is distinguished from the other ParatanaisExpand
New species of the genus Zeuxo (Peracarida, Tanaidacea)
TLDR
The species Z. paranormani Sieg, 1980 is demoted to a junior synonym of Z. normani, while the ‘Zeuxo normani’ from Australia is raised to full species rank under the name Z. edgari. Expand
Two new species of Tanaidacea (Crustacea, Peracarida) from Taiwan.
TLDR
The genus Aparatanais, the family Paratanaidae and the superfamily Paratanaoidea are recorded for the first time from Taiwan and Morphological comparisons between members of the genus, as well as the genus Tanais are tabulated. Expand
A New Polymorphic Species of Leptochelia (Crustacea: Tanaidacea) from Guinea Bissau, West Africa, with Comments on Genetic Variation within Leptochelia
ABSTRACT Anew species of Leptochelia, namely L. africana, is described from Guinea Bissau, West Africa, following the collection of specimens during the Laboratory of Marine Community Ecology andExpand
Genetic divergence of tanaidaceans (Crustacea: Peracarida) with low dispersal ability
TLDR
The results showed that traditional species identification underestimates tanaidacean diversity and that what have been previously perceived as reliable diagnostic morphological characters, are, however, variable and unreliable. Expand
Tanaidacea from Brazil: III. new records and description of a new species collected from REVIZEE-NE Program
A new species of Paratanais Dana, 1852, Paratanais coelhoi sp. nov., is described and new records for Paradoxapseudes intermedius (Hansen, 1895), Intermedichelia gracilis Guţu, 1996, VestigiramusExpand
Deep ocean seascape and Pseudotanaidae (Crustacea: Tanaidacea) diversity at the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone
TLDR
The results suggest that spatial structuring of pseudotanaid diversity is correlated with deep-sea features, particularly the presence of fractures and seamount chains crossing the CCZ. Expand

The Macaronesian Islands in the mid-Atlantic pose a number of questions relating to their colonization by littoral tanaidaceans, as these taxa have no obligate dispersive phase. Recent surveys of theExpand

TLDR
An attempt is made to investigate the provenance of the Azorean tanaidacean fauna, although the general lack of data from the North-east Atlantic precludes any reasonable interpretation other than some possible links with the Mediterranean. Expand

A systematic and taxonomic review of the family Pseudotanaidae (Crustacea: Peracarida: Tanaidacea) based primarily on morphometric cladistic analysis
TLDR
The primary objective of this study was to test the hypothesis that the current structure of the family Pseudotanaidae should remain intact as a monophyletic group or, alternatively, should be pared to exclude the members of the current subfamily Cryptocopinae. Expand
Morphological and molecular investigation of polymorphism and cryptic species in tanaid crustaceans: implications for tanaid systematics and biodiversity estimates
TLDR
The identification of three undescribed cryptic species from a single microhabitat in a well studied, shallow water and easily accessible locality, demonstrate that the biodiversity of tanaid crustacean is significantly underestimated. Expand

TLDR
It is here proposed to deal with identification of small species with high levels of intra-specific polymorphism within groups of inter-specific morphologically-conservative taxa by extrapolating information obtained from highly detailed baseline studies. Expand
