The present studies investigated the effects of tacrine, a selective acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor and promising anti-dementia agent, on hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2))-induced apoptosis and the expression of apoptosis-related genes in rat pheochromocytoma line PC12 cells.
