: We study production of dark relics during reheating after the end of inflation in a system consisting of a non-minimally coupled spectator scalar field and the inflaton. We derive a set of renormalized quantum transport equations for the one-point function and the two-point function of the spectator field and solve them numerically. We find that our system can embody both tachyonic and parametric instabilities. The former is an expected result due to the non-minimal coupling, but the latter…

Dark matter production via a non-minimal coupling to gravity

We study postinflationary scalar dark matter production via its non-minimal coupling to gravity. During the inflaton oscillation epoch, dark matter is produced resonantly for a sufficiently large

Reheating the universe after multi-field inflation

We study in detail (p)reheating after multi-field inflation models with a particular focus on N-flation. We consider a variety of different couplings between the inflatons and the matter sector,

Despicable dark relics: generated by gravity with unconstrained masses

We demonstrate the existence of a generic, efficient and purely gravitational channel producing a significant abundance of dark relics during reheating after the end of inflation. The mechanism is

Non-equilibrium dynamics of a scalar field with quantum backreaction

Abstract We study the dynamical evolution of coupled one- and two-point functions of a scalar field in the 2PI framework at the Hartree approximation, including backreaction from out-of-equilibrium

Tachyonic preheating using 2PI-1/N dynamics and the classical approximation

We study the process of tachyonic preheating using approximative quantum equations of motion derived from the 2PI effective action. The O(N) scalar (Higgs) field is assumed to experience a fast

Semiclassical force for electroweak baryogenesis: Three-dimensional derivation

We derive a semiclassical transport equation for fermions propagating in the presence of a CP-violating planar bubble wall at a rst order electroweak phase transition. Starting from the Kadano-Baym

Gravitational production of scalar dark matter

We investigate the gravitational production of scalar dark matter particles during the inflationary and reheating epochs. The oscillatory behavior of the curvature scalar R during the reheating phase

We derive CP-violating transport equations for fermions for electroweak baryogenesis from the CTP-formalism including thermal corrections at the one-loop level. We consider both the VEV-insertion

Renormalization of the 2PI Hartree-Fock approximation on a de Sitter background in the broken phase

The infrared effects for light minimally coupled scalar fields with quartic self-interaction in de Sitter space is investigated using the 2PI effective action formalism. This formalism partially
