Following earlier studies that provided a consistent theory of kinematics for tachyons (faster-than-light particles) we here embark on a study of tachyon dynamics, both in classical physics and in the quantum theory. Examining a general scattering process we come to recognize that the labels given to "in" and "out" states are not Lorentz invariant for tachyons; and this lets us find a sensible interpretation of negative energy states. For statistical mechanics, as well as for scattering…

A Consistent Theory of Tachyons with Interesting Physics for Neutrinos

Working strictly within the physics theories of Special and General Relativity, I have produced a series of studies developing a consistent mathematical description of tachyons, using both classical

Theoretical Search for Gravitational Bound States of Tachyons

The mission here is to see if we can find bound states for tachyons in some gravitational environment. That could provide an explanation for the phenomena called Dark Matter. Starting with the

An Approach for Modelling Tachyons with Gravitation

This work expands previous efforts, within the classical theories of Special and General Relativity, to include tachyons (faster-than-light particles) along with ordinary (slower-than-light) particles

Review of the Empirical Evidence for Superluminal Particles and the 3 + 3 Model of the Neutrino Masses

A review is given of hypothetical faster-than-light tachyons and the development of the author’s 3+3 model of the neutrino mass states, which includes one tachyonic mass state doublet. Published

In earlier work we showed how to handle the Group Theoretical issue of the Little Group for spin 1/2 tachyons by introducing a special metric in the vector space of one-particle states. Here that

A Review of Searches for Evidence of Tachyons

Here, we review searches for empirical evidence for the existence of tachyons, superluminal particles having m2<0. The review considers searches for new particles that might be tachyons, as well as

Rejuvenating the hope of a swampland consistent inflated multiverse with tachyonic inflation in the high-energy RS-II braneworld

The swampland conjectures from string theory have had some really interesting implications on cosmology, in particular on inflationary models. Some models of inflation have been shown to be

Debunking the Anti-Tachyon Myths

Some people believe that the Earth is flat; and they can see this is true with their own eyes. Physicists are convinced otherwise; and they can cite abundant evidence on their side. However, when it

Toward a Quantum Theory of Tachyon Fields

We construct momentum space expansions for the wave functions that solve the Klein-Gordon and Dirac equations for tachyons, recognizing that the mass shell for such fields is very different from what

Detecting non-relativistic cosmic neutrinos by capture on tritium: phenomenology and physics potential

We study the physics potential of the detection of the Cosmic Neutrino Background via neutrino capture on tritium, taking the proposed PTOLEMY experiment as a case study. With the projected energy

Tachyons in general relativity

We consider the motion of tachyons (faster-than-light particles) in the framework of general relativity. An important feature is the large contribution of low energy tachyons to the energy-momentum

A new Dirac-type equation for tachyonic neutrinos

Based on experimental evidences supporting the hypothesis that neutrinos might be tachyonic fermions, a new Dirac-type equation is proposed and a spin-1/2 tachyonic quantum theory is developed. The

First Evidence of Running Cosmic Vacuum: Challenging the Concordance Model

Despite the fact that a rigid -term is a fundamental building block of the concordance ΛCDM model, we show that a large class of cosmological scenarios with dynamical vacuum energy density together

Tritium decay and the hypothesis of tachyonic neutrinos

Abstract. Numerous recent measurements indicate an excess of counts near the endpoint of the electron energy spectrum in tritium decay. We show that this effect is expected if the neutrino is a

Chirally Invariant Avatar in a Model of Neutrinos with Light Cone Reflection Symmetry

In previous work we developed a model of neutrinos based on a new symmetry, Light Cone Reflection (LCR), that interchanges spacelike and timelike intervals. In this paper we start with the

Dirac Hamiltonian with Imaginary Mass and Induced Helicity—Dependence by Indefinite Metric

It is of general theoretical interest to investigate the properties of superluminal matter wave equations for spin one-half particles. One can either enforce superluminal propagation by an explicit

Planck 2015 results - XIII. Cosmological parameters

This paper presents cosmological results based on full-mission Planck observations of temperature and polarization anisotropies of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) radiation. Our results are in

Parity Violation and Neutrino Mass

Besides the fact of parity violation in weak interactions, based on evidences from neutrino oscillation and tritium beta decay, a natural conjecture is that neutrinos may be spacelike particles with
