J. Tušek, D. Klobčar, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, Ljubljana, Slovenia The paper presents the results of tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding of aluminium alloy 7075-T6 in the butt joint, with single-V edge preparation. The sample dimensions were 100 × 75 × 20 mm3. The TIG welding was done with 2 mm diameter filler wire made of 5183 (AlMg4,5Mn) at four preheating temperatures. During the welding a temperature was measured at six locations with thermocouples. For…

Hybrid Laser/GMA Welding Aluminium Alloy 7075

Aluminium alloy 7075 is a heat treatable alloy based on Al-Mg-Zn system (5–6 wt % Zn, 2–3 wt % Mg and 1–2 wt % Cu) with the high strength obtained by precipitation hardening treatment. This alloy has

Corrosion Analysis of Friction Stir-welded AA 7075 Aluminium Alloy

Friction stir-welding of AA7075 has become widely practiced in the fabrication of light-weight structures requiring high strength-to-weight ratios and superior corrosion resistance. The friction

Local melting and cracking in Al 7075-T6 and Al 2024-T3 friction stir spot welds

Abstract Local melting of eutectic films and cracking is found in Al 2024 and Al 7075 alloy friction stir spot welds. Dissolution of melted films removes all evidence melted film formation in spot

Porosity, Element Loss, and Strength Model on Softening Behavior of Hybrid Laser Arc Welded Al-Zn-Mg-Cu Alloy with Synchrotron Radiation Analysis

The severe strength loss of hybrid welded Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy joints such as 7075-T6 has been characterized using high-resolution synchrotron radiation X-rays and theoretical modeling. To elucidate the

Analysis of Shear Hat Test in Digital Environment

Determination of flow curves of metals, which are indispensable for numerical simulations of forming processes, is often limited to tensile or compression tests. However in some cases the shear

Recrystallization kinetics for aluminum alloy 7075

The effect of the degree of cold working (58 – 71%), annealing holding time and temperature in the range 185 – 265°C on recrystallization kinetics for aluminum alloy 7075 are studied. Isothermal
