PURPOSE To demonstrate fast and accurate Monte Carlo (MC) calculations of proton dose-averaged linear energy transfer (LETd) and biological dose (BD) on a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) card. METHODS A previously validated GPU-based MC simulation of proton transport was used to rapidly generate LETd distributions for proton treatment plans.
