This longitudinal study examined the transition-experience among 82 pupils (12-14 years) who transferred from secondary school to secondary modern school in Germany, compared with 1123 participants, who attended secondary modern school from the beginning. Data were collected over a 1-year period beginning immediately after the transition to secondary modern school.
