Cordyceps sinensis (Berk) sacc is a well known fungus, and traditionally used as an aphrodisiac and tonic in North Sikkim. Aphrodisiac is an agent that increases and arouses sexual desire that makes sex more attainable and/or pleasurable. The Sikkim Himalaya is a well known treasure trove and biological hotspot and the people of North Sikkim have been relying on this plant for centuries as an aphordisiac in the harsh high altitude environment. There is a long history of its use as aphrodisiac…

Distribution, Harvesting, and Trade of Yartsa Gunbu (Ophiocordyceps sinensis) in the Sikkim Himalaya, India
Cordyceps has significantly improved the socioeconomic status of the mountain people in the Sikkim Himalaya, India, but an upsurge in demand and its price has resulted in overexploitation and
Antihyperglycemic Activity of Ophiocordyceps sinensis :A Review
TLDR
Ophiocordyceps sinensis one of the edible and medicinal mushrooms used for therapeutic effects and antioxidant activities and clears that it has the potential to be considered as a candidate for preparing the new treatment of diabetes mellitus.
Cordyceps spp.: A Review on Its Immune-Stimulatory and Other Biological Potentials
TLDR
This review collects and analyzes state-of-the-art about the properties of Cordyceps species along with ethnopharmacological properties, application in food, chemical compounds, extraction of bioactive compounds, and various pharmacological properties with a special focus on the stimulatory properties of immunity.

Trade of Cordyceps sinensis from high altitudes of the Indian Himalaya: Conservation and biotechnological priorities
TLDR
The importance of the fungus as medicine, a case study of collection and trade in the Central Himalayan region, and research needs in the Indian context are highlighted.
Differentiation of medicinal Cordyceps species by rDNA ITS sequence analysis.
TLDR
DNA sequence analysis of the rDNA ITS (internal transcribed spacer) was exploited to differentiate the medicinal species Cordyceps sinensis from several related CordyCEps species, such as, e.
[Study on the biology of adults parasite of Cordyceps sinensis, Hepialus biruensis].
TLDR
The host of parasite was collected in field, eclosion, mating and spawning in the different conditions were made, and it's biology and the regularity of the growth and development were observed.
Morphological and phylogenetic studies onCordyceps sinensis distributed in southwestern China
TLDR
The results strongly suggested that intraspecific variation was rather small and that some species that are morphologically similar to Cordyceps sinensis but with different names might be synonymous withC.
In vivo stimulatory effect of Cordyceps sinensis mycelium and its fractions on reproductive functions in male mouse.
TLDR
In vivo effects of CS and its fractions significantly stimulated in vivo mouse testosterone production and didn't have considerable effect on the weights of reproductive organs.
Protein constituent contributes to the hypotensive and vasorelaxant activities of Cordyceps sinensis.
TLDR
It is revealed that presence of a constituent in CS which reduces MAP by relaxing the vascular beds directly, however, the effect may be caused by a single active ingredient or by the combined action of many active agents found in the extract.
Indigenous lifestyles and biodiversity conservation issues in North Sikkim
Sikkim is a well known treasure trove and hotspot of biodiversity with most of its macro fauna and flora well documented over the last two centuries. The ethnic populace living in remoter areas of
CordyMax Cs-4 improves steady-state bioenergy status in mouse liver.
TLDR
CdyMax is effective in improving bioenergy status in the murine liver, suggesting a mechanism underlying the known clinical effectiveness of CordyMax in alleviating fatigue and improving physical endurance, especially in elderly subjects.
In vivo and in vitro stimulatory effects of Cordyceps sinensis on testosterone production in mouse Leydig cells.
TLDR
Because CS, F2, and F3 stimulated both in vitro and in vivo testosterone secretions in mice, it is possible that CS might contribute to an alternative medicine for the treatment of some reproductive problems caused by insufficient testosterone levels in human males.
