The need for accurate methods of analysis of reinforced concrete structures under general loading conditions has been brought to the fore by structural failures sustained during the Northridge and Kobe earthquakes. This paper presents an alternative method by which finite element analysis procedures can be made to provide accurate simulations of reinforced concrete subjected to reversed cyclic loads.
