▪ Abstract We provide a pedagogical introduction to a recently studied class of phenomenologically interesting string models known as Intersecting D-Brane Models. The gauge fields of the Standard Model are localized on D-branes wrapping certain compact cycles on an underlying geometry, whose intersections can give rise to chiral fermions. We address the basic issues and also provide an overview of the recent activity in this field. This article is intended to serve non-experts with explanations…

Building the standard model on a D3-brane
We motivate and apply a bottom-up approach to string phenomenology, which aims to construct the Standard Model as a decoupled world-volume theory on a D3-brane. As a concrete proposal for such a

Statistics in the landscape of intersecting brane models
An approach towards a statistical survey of four-dimensional supersymmetric vacua in the string theory landscape is described and illustrated with three examples of ensembles of intersecting D-brane
Intersecting branes and a standard model realization in matrix models
We consider intersecting brane solutions of the type IIB matrix model. It is shown that fermionic zero-modes arise on such backgrounds, localized at the brane intersections. They lead to chiral
Gauge sector statistics of intersecting D‐brane models
In this paper, which is based on the first part of the author's PhD thesis, we review the statistics of the open string sector in T6/(ℤ2 × ℤ2) orientifold compactifications of type IIA. After an
D-branes at singularities, compactification, and hypercharge
We report on progress towards the construction of SM-like gauge theories on the world-volume of D-branes at a Calabi-Yau singularity. In particular, we work out the topological conditions on the
d-Brane Instantons in Type II Orientifolds
We review recent progress in determining the effects of d-brane instantons in supersymmetric compactifications of Type II string theory to four dimensions. We describe the abstract d-brane instanton

Intersecting D-brane Models
This thesis is devoted to the study of a class of constructions based on Superstring Theory, baptized in the literature as Intersecting Brane Worlds. In particular we explore several issues regarding
Some phenomenology of intersecting D-brane models
We present some phenomenology of a new class of intersecting D-brane models. Soft SUSY breaking terms for these models are calculated in the complex structure (u)-moduli dominant SUSY breaking
More about the Standard Model at Intersecting Branes
Intersecting D-brane models seem to be one of the most promising avenues to embed the Standard Model physics within the string context. We review here different aspects of these models. Topics

Standard Model Compactifications from Intersecting Branes
We discuss the construction of four dimensional non-supersymmetric models obtained from configurations of D6-branes intersecting at angles. We present the first examples of string GUT models which
Standard Model Engineering with Intersecting Branes
I briefly describe the recent construction of the first specific string D-brane models yielding just the SM massless fermion spectrum. One of the most remarkable facts predicted by these

Chiral four-dimensional string compactifications with intersecting D-branes
We review the construction of chiral four-dimensional compactifications of type IIA string theory with intersecting D6-branes. Such models lead to four-dimensional theories with non-Abelian gauge
Intersecting brane worlds on tori and orbifolds
We review the construction and phenomenology of intersecting brane worlds. The breaking of chiral and supersymmetry together with a reduction of gauge symmetry by introducing D-branes at generic
