We present BV photometry for 54 variables in the metal-rich inner halo globular cluster NGC 6723. With the discovery of new RR Lyrae variables (RRLs), we obtain 〈Pab〉 = 0.541 ± 0.066 and 〈Pc〉 = 0.292 ± 0.030 day, n(c)/n(ab+c) = 0.167, and 〈V(RR)〉int = 15.459 ± 0.055. We carry out the Fourier decomposition analysis and obtain [Fe/H]ZW = −1.23 ± 0.11 and E(B − V) = 0.063 ± 0.015 for NGC 6723. By calibrating the zero point from the recent absolute trigonometric parallax measurements for RR Lyr, we…

Multiple Stellar Populations of Globular Clusters from Homogeneous Ca-CN Photometry. II. M5 (NGC 5904) and a New Filter System

Using our ingeniously designed new filter systems, we investigate multiple stellar populations of the red giant branch (RGB) and the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) in the globular cluster (GC) M5. Our

Multiple Stellar Populations of Globular Clusters from Homogeneous Ca–CN–CH Photometry. V. as a Surrogate cnJWL Index and NGC 6723

We introduce new color indices (=CaCTIO − CaJWL) and chJWL [=(JWL43 − b) − (b − y)], accurate photometric measures of the CN band at λ3883 and the CH G band, respectively, in the study of the

Chemical abundances in the metal-intermediate GC NGC 6723

We have performed a detailed spectral analysis of the inner halo Galactic globular cluster (GC) NGC 6723 using high-resolution (R${\approx }$ 22 000–48 000) spectra for for 11 red giant branch

We present a multiple stellar population study of the globular cluster NGC 6752. We show that our new photometric CN index accurately traces the CN and the nitrogen abundances in cool giants, finding

We present new large field-of-view (∼1°×1°) Ca-CN photometry of the prototypical metal-rich globular cluster 47 Tucanae (NGC 104). Our results are the following. (1) The populational number ratios of

Characteristics of bright ab-type RR Lyrae stars from the ASAS and WASP surveys

In this article, we present results based on high-density, high-precision Wide-Angle Search for Planets (WASP) light curves supplemented with lower-precision photometry from the All-Sky Automated

High resolution spectroscopic analysis of seven giants in the bulge globular cluster NGC 6723

Globular clusters associated with the Galactic bulge are important tracers of stellar populations in the inner Galaxy. High resolution analysis of stars in these clusters allows us to characterize

APOGEE discovery of a chemically atypical star disrupted from NGC 6723 and captured by the Milky Way bulge

The central (‘bulge’) region of the Milky Way is teeming with a significant fraction of mildly metal-deficient stars with atmospheres that are strongly enriched in cyanogen (12C14N). Some of these

Inferring the age of the universe with globular clusters

We present an estimate of the absolute age of 68 galactic globular clusters obtained by exploiting the distribution of stars in the full color-magnitude diagram. In particular, we jointly estimate

STAR FORMATION HISTORY OF THE MILKY WAY HALO TRACED BY THE OOSTERHOFF DICHOTOMY AMONG GLOBULAR CLUSTERS

In our recent investigation of the Oosterhoff dichotomy in the multiple population paradigm, we have suggested that the RR Lyrae variables in the globular clusters (GCs) of Oosterhoff groups I, II,
