BACKGROUND & AIMS Hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication/morphogenesis takes place at the membranous web. Viral genome replication occurs in replicon complexes on the cytoplasmic face of the ER whereas HCV assembly is located on the surface of lipid droplets (LDs).
